Parent involvement is essential to the success of the student at all ages, but is particularly important for young students. Parent(s)/guardian(s) are expected to:

  • Be present at all lessons.

  • Take notes on what the student needs to practice and how they should do it (I will help with this).

  • Practice with students in the home.

  • Provide a supportive atmosphere for student practice in the home.

  • Use of cell phones/texting/emailing during lessons by the parents is discouraged as this distracts from the lessons.

As the student grows and develops, more responsibility for practicing will be placed on them and less on the parent. This is something to be worked out with the student, parent, and teacher. Remember that parent involvement never stops, it just changes with time as the student is advancing.

It is not required, but I highly recommend that parents take the Every Child Can course offered by the Suzuki Association of the Americas before or soon after their student starts lessons.

Siblings are welcome in lessons as long as they can be respectful and not distracting during the lessons.

It is the student’s responsibility to switch lessons with another student if they are unable to make it to their regularly scheduled lesson. If a student misses, there with be no refund given. Make-up lessons are only given if I, the teacher, am absent. In the extremely unlikely event that I need to miss a lesson and can not make it up, a credit for that lesson will be given to the student’s account.

Tuition is due the first lesson of the month. If it is not received then, a late fee of $15 will be applied.
